Winning, sound boys make good dads!

We have a breeding plan that extends four generations out from where we are today. Taking the best dogs we can find that will support what we have and introduce new bloodlines to breed back to Desert Dawg Beagles, we are careful to watch the quality produced from our boys very closely. Desert Dawg Beagles are expected to not only look good but be able to spend a day in the field without tiring and happily kiss us when the day is done. We are proud of the boys we have. You can follow our history as you scroll down the page.

Ch. Just-Wright The Natural
You can watch Hobb's video on youtube.com
Hobbs was the first Beagle we acquired from Julie Wright and her Just-Wright kennel. He is a son of Ch. Just-Wright Home Run out of a Home Run daughter. Eleven years old now, we are continuing Hobb's bloodlines through his daughter,  Ch. Desert Dawg's Blue Agave. He is also the sire of Ch. Just-Wright's Bravada.

Hobbs is living with us at Desert Dawg Beagles!

His grandkid and great grandkids are starting their careers. Watch for:

  • Gr. Ch. Desert Dawg's Arizona Dust Storm
  • Desert Dawg's Blue Lily
  • Desert Dawg's Arizona Sunset championship pointed
  • Desert Dawg's Sweet Encounter (showing in the Netherlands)

And now, his great, great grandkids are on the ground. We'll be reporting on their successes too!

American & Mexican Ch. Desert Dawg OfftheRidge Hopi
You can watch Scout's video on youtube.com

Scout was co-owned with Trish Pittman of Offtheridge Beagles. We brought him in to infuse some diversity into our Just-Wright bloodlines.  He has sired champion offspring from our bitches.       (He has a whole new life now--he's a movie star. Ask us about it!)

(See Scout and some of his offspring in a photo under "Specialties"--he is winning the Stud Dog Class at the Phoenix Arizona Beagle Club)

Scout is the sire of:

Ch. Desert Dawg's We Struck Gold
You can see Dawson's video on youtube.

"Dawson" is a son of our girl "Belle" and Ch. Jabrwoki's Chanticleer.  We wanted to bring in more of the Echo Run bloodlines that we found in both Belle's and Rooster's pedigrees.
Dawson brought us elegance, bone and movement.

Dawson is the sire of "Desert Dawg's Wild Tumbleweed, below.

Desert Dawg's Wild Tumbleweed
(ch. pointed)
 (updated 12/8/11)

You can see Tumbleweed's video on youtube.com

As a youngster,Tumbleweed received Best of Breed puppy and Group 1 at the Prescott AZ Kennel Club match in August, 2010. He has a couple of reserve winners dog placements under his belt but like his daddy, we had to wait for him to grow up. At sixteen months we brought him back out and he won back to back majors his first weekend out, finishing with WD/BOV on the Monday show.

Tumbleweed is by Ch. Desert Dawg's We Struck Gold out of Ch. Desert Dawg's Wild Desert Rose.

Tumbleweed has sired several litters of puppies. He produces red & whites when bred to a red & white. He will produce flashy tris when bred to a blue or a tri bitch. He lays down lots of white markings on the tri puppies. We are very pleased with the puppies he has produced so far.

Tumbleweed at 16 months

Desert Dawg's Thundermountain Sun Dance
ch. pointed
(updated 6/16/11)

Sundance was bred by Thundermountain Beagles, owner Cathy Palmer. We acquired him at 5 months of age. He was just 6 months when, at his first show, he won Winner's Dog on Saturday and Winner's Dog/Best of Winner's on Sunday at the Scottsdale Dog Fanciers Association shows for a 3 point major.

Sundance continued his winning ways by taking 13" Winners Dog at all four Kachina KC shows in April, 2011.

He is shown in this photo taking Best Puppy in Show at the Phoenix Arizona Beagle Club Specialty, June 10, 2011. He was 10 months old.

Sundance's grandfathers are renowned, "Spencer" and "Monty". With winning bloodlines and beauty, this young dog is an exciting addition to Desert Dawg Beagles.

Sundance is co-owned with Richard & Cheryl Kinn and resides with them in Prescott Valley, AZ. We are holding him out to mature before showing him again.
